What type of file is this? It's likely that you are trying to open a file
type that is created by a program and can only be opened if you have that
particular program installed on your computer. It may also be a more common
file type that is either not registered on the system or may have lost it's
association to a program that is capable of opening it.

Look at the 2 or 3 digit file extension for the file (the letters/numbers
after the period in the file name). Once you identify it, go to the
following website and look in the alphabetical index for the extention to
locate the program that it is associated with.

FILExt - The File Extension Source:

Post the file extension back here for more help.

The letters at the end of the file are .jpg. The progrm and/or extension
function is JPEG?JIFF image. I hope this is what you need--thanx for your
help.

This is one of the most common image file types.

Go to Start/Run and search the C: drive for *.jpg. In the found window,
double click one of the files to see if it will open from there. If not,
right click one of the .jpg files and select Open With from the menu. Select
the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer and place a check mark in the Always open
this file type..... option, and click OK. This should re-associate the file
type.

If this does not fix the problem, you may have something in your email
program that is preventing the display of the image files. You may need to
move the file to a folder on the hard drive and view it from there.

I am having this same problem. I have every photo viewer around and I still
get this message. I can save it and view it from the saved file but really
need to view it from outlook express.

Thanks Warren

Make sure that you do not have the Read all messages in plain text option
selected in Tools/Options/Read tab.

if that is set properly, you might want to take a look at the following
website, if you have XP SP2 installed. Near the bottom of the page.
