If they really were stand alone, I'd agree. Unfortunately, IE and OE are
now so integrated into the OS that's it's difficult to rescue either
component individually as where SFC and Repair Install should see any
dependencies and make adjustments accordingly.

Your prob right, I just thought that SFC might lead the user off on a
tangent, and that it would be easier to
just over write the version with fresh files.

message | Andy, given Internet Explorer's integration with the OS, it's really safer
| to have users try sfc /scannow or a repair install of SFC fails to
resolve

| | What version of Internet Explorer are you using?
| 5.0 , 5.5 , 6.0 ?
| In order to reload OE, you'll have to reload Internet Explorer.
| Assuming your internet works ok, go to microsoft's website:
|
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...cb-5e5d-48f5-b02b-20b602228de6&DisplayLang=en
|
| I would save your messages first, like I mentioned in my previous post.
|
| | | andy; at the top of the page I have "otlook express" -
| | (not responding) under that; file - edit - view - tools -
| | messages - help. none of which will open because I can't
| | get a pointer with the cursor - just hour glass - frozen.
