I cannot find a NG for OE, so please re-direct me if this
is no goood for what i need to know.

I have installed a new hdd and re-installed XP Home. I
then slaved my old hdd and transferred all of my
documents. I want to export or copy the address book from
Outlook Express to my new hdd. How can I do this please?

I tried putting my old drive in as a master and then i
was going to export the contacts, but the o/s freezes on
the blue Windows XP screen so it looks like i need to
copy the file instead.

Thanks inadvance

Chris

Close OE and the Address book, if open.

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4\Wab File Name

The Default value in the right pane will show you where your current WAB
(Windows Address Book) is stored. Copy the old WAB from the old hard
drive, to this location on the new drive. You can either rename the file, if
needed, or modify the Registry entry to point to the old file.

Search the old HDD for *.wab it will find the Address Book. The file
should be called <your user name>.wab. Where your user name is the account
name you used. Note the location of the file and open OE. Go to
File/Import/Address Book and point the wizard to the file. Follow the
directions.
