I take it that you cannot use outlook in Vista? I do not have Office
installed and do not really like the hotmail web based email..

You can use Outlook (version 2003 or newer), but not Outlook Express.
Windows Mail cannot access Hotmail accounts, but the newer Windows Live Mail
