outlook express

i accidentally deleted the "msoe.dll" file and Outlook
Express will not initialize. i found the "msoe.dll" file
on the Office XP cd that came with my computer.

can the problem be fixed by simply copying the file to
the c drive and, if so, what folder does it go in?

if not, what is the best way to fix without losing
contents or structure of my email folders.

thanks.

Hi,

Set Outlook Express as default mail client - Start/Run and type in:
MSIMN.EXE /REG

Restore OE to the E-mail List in Internet Options (Row 9)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/restore_oe_client.reg

Restore Hotmail, Outlook and OE under Programs (Line 250)

Reset OE for Send To , Mail To , Send Mail (Line 64)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Restore Outlook Express as Default News Client
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\News

If none of the above helps:

Re-install Outlook Express - Click Start, Run and enter %SystemRoot%\Inf.
Locate the MSOE50.INF file. Right click it and select Install.

Did you consciously delete MSOE.DLL or is OE giving you an error message
stating something to that effect (e.g., "Outlook Express could not be
started because Msoe.dll could not be initialized. Outlook Express may not
be installed correctly.")?

Assuming the latter (always post the complete error message), see these
pages, in order:
