Server: Windows 2000 Server, SP3, Terminal Services
(Called TS1)
Printer: LJ 4000 connected to HP Jet Direct 170. Printer
SP56 installed as Local Printer on Terminal Server using
Port JD198 (which is the std tcp/ip port for this Jet
Direct)[The following problem applies ALL TCP/IP printers
on this terminal server. The examples below reference this
printer as described.]
1) When logged into Console, print jobs work fine.
2) When attached thin clients try print from ANY
application (except Outlook Express) print jobs work fine.
3) **BUT** When attached thin clients try to print from
Outlook Express, the print queue goes "through the
motions" but nothing prints.
3-A) The event log says "Document 252,
mhtml:mid://00000001/ owned by njtucker was printed on
SP56 via port \\ntserver\userdirs\njtucker\JD198. Size in
bytes: 0; pages printed: 2 " (NOTE the odd port name.)
3-B) By comparison, an IE page printed from the *same*
client to the *same* printer shows the following in the
event log: "Document 251, Welcome to MSN.com owned by
njtucker was printed on SP56 via port JD198. Size in
bytes: 458852; pages printed: 2 " (Note the more
normal "port JD198") {To reiterate, the IE job prints fine)
Suggestions???
