Hi, I am upgrading my computer and would like to transfer
the Outlook Express folders (Address book, InBox, Sent
Items...) from my old computer to the new computer. I would
appreciate help as to the best (easiest) way to transfer
Outlook Express file?
Thank you, Bob

Thanks for your help Doug, I went to your website and
followed your instruction to click on the "In Outlook
Express, go to Tools, Options, Maintenance. Select the
Store Folder button. Change the location of the OE Mail
and News store folder to a drive/partition/folder that
will not be affected by the uninstall or re-install" and
ran into problem.
First for background information I am using windowsXp Home
and Outlook Express 6.0. Anyway, since I have a slew of
InBox and Sent messages that I would like to transport to
my new system, I thought that it would be best
to "capture" theses files and folders on CD. When I tried
to change the file location to the CD-ROM Drive, I was
unable to "open" the CD-ROM Drive. Does this method not
support CD? Should I be copying these files to diskette
from the "old" system (I can imagine how many diskettes it
will take to copy all the OE files and folders) and then
restore them on the new system? Thank you again for your
help and support.
Bob

You wouldn't change it to a CD drive. They have to be read/write. Just copy the folder.

As David said, just copy the entire mail store folder. A partition means a
hard disk partition. Follow the rest of the instructions to backup the
settings, and when you put the folder back on your new machine, make sure
that it goes in exactly the same place. Otherwise, you have to edit the REG
files you exported to match.
