Outlook Express to Outlook

Hello,
I'm currently using Outlook Express as my e-mail client.
All e-mails are downloaded to my computer; that is, they
don't reside on my ISP's server.

I'm considering switching to Outlook (included with Office
2003) as my e-mail client. If I do so, will Outlook
convert my Outlook Express database of e-mails?

Yes, but during setup it is better to choose for "No" when it asks you to
import the OE messages. Once you've got Outlook installed and setup you can
use Export from within OE to export your messages to Outlook. This will give
you greater flexibility and makes sure that all the message dates are
migrated properly as well.

A few months ago I thought I would also upgrade from
Outlook Express to Outlook. But to my amazement, Microsoft
Outlook doesn't support Microsoft Hotmail. If you are
using Hotmail, keep this is mind. I imported the emails
from Outlook Express and everything worked fine, but you
might have problems with the address book. I kept both
programs loaded to compare them and had a problem seeing
the address book when I went back to OE. I finally figured
out how to do it.
I use Outlook in an office environment with an company
network and like all of the features it has. I might
switch to it if MS decides to support their own products.
Maybe there will be a fix for that sometime.

Gary,

What version of Outlook are you refering to? Hotmail is supported in Outlook
2002 and 2003.
