I have "Outlook Express" with Office XP and want to
convert to "Outlook 2000 2002" in order to utilize "Spam
Bayes" which will not work with Express. Is this
conversion possible and if so, how?

OK, so you already have Office XP then, right? First, you should know that
Outlook Express is not part of the Office suite at all -- it's part of the
Internet Explorer family. That doesn't mean you can't make the switch and
keep your data, however. Once you have installed Outlook 2002 from the
Office XP suite, you can use the Export menu in Outlook Express to move your
data to Outlook. You will also want to do the following to make sure that
new mail ends up in Outlook and not Outlook Express:

1) Make sure Outlook is listed as your default mail program here: Control
Panel | Internet Options | Programs tab.
2) Remove all mail accounts from Outlook Express (unless you can't bear to
part with them for some reason).
3) Disable automatic checking for new mail in OE.
4) Only open OE if you're going to use it for newsreading (Outlook doesn't
have its own newsreader, it uses OE for that), and either open the
newsreader through Outlook (View | Go To | News) or open OE with the
/newsonly switch. This way, all mail functions in OE are disabled anyway,
so there's no chance of using them by mistake.
