For some reason, after I did updates on my pc, I have a
major problem switching from one identity to another. I
usually have to restart to get outlook up and running
again. I am also having touble sending email attachments
from Word to my boss to open on her pc. For some reason,
after I did updates, she couldn't open it as a Word file,
Is there any help out there...Thanks so much

Is there any help? Of this I'm not entirely certain. Given the information
you've given I'd recommend that you press start, type "sfc /scannow"
(without the quotes) and hit enter. Insert the installation CD when you're
asked to do so, it takes about ten minutes, and when it's done, remove the
CD from the drive and reboot. Let us know if that helps so if it doesn't we
can note it and keep working on it.

Galen, I have a similar problem with Microsoft Outlook
2002 and Outlook Express 6.0. For the last five or so
times after getting MS updates, either, or both e-mail
clients can't send/receive. I have to delete the account
details and do again, and sometimes reboot. Then it is
OK. A couple of times it has happened out of the blue,
with no connection to getting updates.

What does running this "sfc /scannow" do ?? Are you
supposed to type it, without the quotation marks, into
start > run ? Would it be applicable to my problem??

I am running Win XP with SP1

Best regards,

Andrew Warren

System file check utility. Checks your files on your system to see if
they're also matching the ones on the CD while checking to see that the
updated ones are ok as well....

Doesn't break anything or hurt anything.
