Hello,

Whenever I try to start Outlook Express 6 up, it takes a
good 45-60 seconds before I can do anything. It seems
to 'hang' without any of the icons and messages appearing
which is really very annoying. Any ideas as to how to
make it load up quicker?

I'm running a 256MB 1.7Ghz PC with Windows XP (which is
otherwise lovely). I also have Norton Antivrus 2003
running in the background (but turning Auto-Protect off
doesn't seem to effect the time at all).

I have this problem all the time too :o| I managed to fix it once (but can't
remember how!) but then after a while it started doing it again. I've
checked for viruses, emptied cache etc etc and still it does it.

Not that that's any help to you - just to let you know you're not alone!!

Hi Nick,

Generally happens when your mail folders get too big. Deleting old mail
files usually helps.

.
Either you have a ton of graphical programs running
around your CPU or you have a loaded Screensaver.
Uninstall any graphically advanced screensavers, erase
your hard drive of any junk, and CHECk to see that there
is not a local problem with the internet - Outlook always
slows up when bandwidth is being installed. Call your ISP
provider and have them test your account, maybe reset
your connection and give them a new password as well. Try
this and see. Also make sure that your are not running
Netscape Navigator or some other hard line Browser at the
same time.
