Outlook Express sends multiple e-mails in error

I use Windows XP-SPII, Internet Explorer 8 and Outlook Express.

My current problem is that:
after attaching a photo and an MS Word document to my e-mail and pressing
"send", Outlook Express proceeds to send 42
e-mails instead of just that one e-mail.

Of course I cancelled that process, but each time I repeat it, OE wants to
send the same incorrect number of messages.

One friend, to whom I sent the e-mail originally, reported that:
1) he had received 36 copies of my e-mail and
2) he could not open the attachments.

I checked on the latter aspect by accessing the copy in my "sent" folder and
found that I could access and read the e-mail AND its attachments without any
problem.
The "sent" folder also recorded only ONE e-mail as having been sent, despite
the 42 actually sent the day before.

Does anyone have a solution for my "multiple e-mails" problem?

Thanks,

This newsgroup is for support of Outlook
97/98/2000/2002/2003/2007 from the Office suite of products. Outlook
Express is actually a separate program despite the similar name.

For help with your OE questions, try an OE newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general (for OE 6), or
an OE help website such as http://insideOE.tomsterdam.com. If you're
accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support
Services "Community Newsgroups" web interface, click
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...px?dg=microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general
Good luck!

Thanks,

Disable your anti virus from checking your emails. It redundant, not
necessary and can create problems like the one your experiencing.
