In the never ending fight against spam, I'm trying to get
a good definition of what microsoft's message rules
actually mean.
I catch 50% of incoming spam by directing spam -
identified by key words directly to my delete folder AFTER
the message has been downloaded.
Since the download from the server happens - is there a
feedback to the spammer that I am a real e-mail address?
There are other options for which I can't find a
definition:
1. Do not download from server.....if I choose this, will
my alotted server space just clog up and prevent new mail
from arriving?
2. Delete from server....this option seems to complete the
download. I think messages are deleted from the server
after download anyway so I'm not sure what this option
does?
Does anyone have a good working definition of what these
rules actually do and which are the most effective against
spam?
Thanks
