Hi,
I have been using Outlook Express 6.x for some time now,
but have recently imported all my email into Outlook
2000. The import worked perfectly.
The problem is that I cannot connect to my POP3 server
using Outlook 2000. Connecting to that POP3 server using
Outlook Express works without issue.
I created the new POP3 account in Outlook using the
account settings that I use in Outlooks express.
Yet, when I attempt to receive email using Outlook 2000 I
receive the following error message:
"Unable to logon to the server using Distributed Password
Authentication. Server Response: '-ERR Command not
valid'. (Account: 'mail.myserver.com', POP3
Server: 'mail.myserver.com', Error Number: 0x800ccc18)."
[NOTE: the server name used above is not the real server
name]
While it seems obvious that I should just disable "Log on
using Secure Password Authentication" (which I _HAVE_
tried), the account settings in Outlook Express _DO_ have
SPA enabled!
Does anyone know why the account settings used by Outlook
Express do not work in Outlook 2000?
Thanks,
Tom
