Hi Folks,
I'm having problems with the Switch Identities feature in
Outlook Express. Can switch from main email account to a
subaccount (with a password), but while I'm in that
subaccount, the incoming mail addressed to the main
account comes into the subaccount. When I try to Switch
Identity back to the main account, I lose Outlook Express
altogether. I can not get back into any email account. I
have to restart the the PC. When I restart, OE is back
in the main account.
My Internet Service claims it's a Microsoft issue.
Please help. Thanks in advance.

For help with your OE questions, try an OE newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress (for OE 6), or
an OE help website such as http://insideOE.tomsterdam.com. If you're
accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support
Services "Community Newsgroups" web interface, click
http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?icp=InternetExplorer
to get to the Internet Explorer groups, then click the plus sign next to
your version of IE to see the link to the Outlook Express group for that
version number. Good luck!

Hi Christine,

If you have not installed the Cumulative Update for OE: There are currently
two workarounds and one option:

Click on File/Identities/Manage Identities and remove the
checkmark in "Use this identity when starting a program".

You Cannot Switch Identities in Outlook Express After You Install Windows XP
SP1
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q329084&

Another option/workaround:

Before changing identity, Press F1. The Outlook Express "Help" window will
open (and leave it running in the background). Now click on FILE > SWITCH
IDENTITY and select your other identity.

Option:

Put a shortcut to msoe.chm in the Startup folder and leave the default ID
active.
