Running Windows XP home edition. I recently changed my
internet connection from AOL dialup to a high speed cable
modem. Since I have a cable modem (optimum online is the
provider), I am now using Outlook Express 6 for my email.
One glitch I am experiencing is that when I receive an
email in Outlook Express that includes a link to an
internet site and I click on that link, AOL is launching
instead of Internet Explorer. I went to
Tools/Options/Connections in Outlook Express but can't
locate/determine anything that tells me why this is
occurring. Everything else looks to be working correctly
within Outlook Express and Internet Explorer.

My work around is to not click on the link within the
Outlook Express email. Instead, I copy the link from
Outlook Express to Internet Explorer and bring up the
site that way.

Any help appreciated. Thank you.

Anthony,

Open Internet Explorer > Tools > Options > Programs and enable the option:
"Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser"

Close IE and open again. Click YES if you are prompted to set it as default
browser.

If this does not help, try this fix:
