Outlook Express - leave open??

I'd like to leave Outlook Express running so when I get new email I will
know. I have it check every 10 minutes.

It seems logical there would be a way to keep it running but not have it
have to take up space in my engaged-Windows bar at the bottom. Really,
don't you think a program like this should shrink to a little icon in the
Tray when you close it, like Yahoo Messenger or MSN Messenger does? So am
I overlooking the command to do this with, or is it just a poorly written
program? I have been experimenting with a program that does this (shrinks
a window to a little mail icon in the tray - 4T Tray Minimizer), but it
has it's drawbacks.

You might try this. Plenty more like it out there.

Poppy for Windows is a small utility. It will notify you when you have mail
waiting on the POP3 server of your Internet provider. Once you have started
Poppy, you will see an icon in the taskbar notification area. When Poppy
detects that mail is available on any of the configured POP3 servers, it
will let you know by changing the taskbar icon.

The taskbar buttons will use no memory whereas the system tray will.
Your idea is poorly thought out. The program is not poorly written.

Well I got a good solution from two other responses. I wasn't worried
about memory used. I didn't know there were pop3 checking programs. Live
and learn. I thought I knew a lot.. I am right at home I guess, right
here in the new users newsgroup...
