Outlook express is not installed on my new computer as part of XP

Outlook express is not installed on my new computer as part of XP, can
somebody tell me how to install it?
 
Go to control panel---add or remove--on left side windows components. Put an
X on Outlook Express.
I.E. Activate it.
 
Already tried that it's not there even under accessories and same story with
address book.
can't find msimn.exe or wab.exe on pc anywhere.
On the instalation disk i see msim_.exe or msimn_ exe and wab_.exe and the
dll files required for those under directory i86 (or something like that)
but no exe files required to run those programs.

Has it ever worked? If yes, what do you think made it not work
anymore?

You need to do what Unknown said before.

If you cannot find msimn.exe or wab.exe, OE is not installed.

Look in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Components section, put a
check box in the Outlook Express section and install it. Your XP
installation CD may be required.

Making a shortcut on your desktop to some executable does not install
the program if is it not installed. It creates a shortcut on your
desktop to some executable.

If it is not in Add/Remove programs, as far as Windows is concerned,
it is not installed. Verify it is installed, then troubleshoot any
remaining issues.

Try this:

Go into "Add/Remove Windows Components" again, remove the checkmark,
exit. Reenter "Add/Remove Windows Components", add a checkmark and exit.

It has never worked since I got the PC couple of days ago.
If you cannot find msimn.exe or wab.exe, OE is not installed.

So it is not installed. My question is how to install it if it does not show
up in Add / Remove components ?

Did someone recently work on your PC?

Or is this a new PC for you?

What is the make and model of this PC and what OS came with it
originally? That is, does it have a Certificate of Authenticity sticker
on the case? And if so, what operating system is listed? Or did the
person you got this PC from install a customized version of Windows XP
(possibly by using a program like nLite)?

Which of the three methods below do you have to return this PC to its
original condition?

1. Windows XP installation disk? If so, what flavor of Windows is it? XP
Pro, Home, or MCE? Retail, generic OEM (AKA System Builder) or branded
OEM (e.g., Dell)?

2. Recovery disk?

3. Or hidden recovery partition on your hard drive?

The more thorough your answers, the quicker you will get a correct
solution. :-)
