Hi

I am a new XP user.

Every time I receive an e mail with an attachment, the
attachment has been removed, and the following message is
displayed below the icons of the toolbar;-

"OE has removed the following unsafe attachments in your
e mail"

Some of are attachments which have already been opened in
Outlook Express on another PC and forwarded on to me.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Owen

Hi Owen,

Click tools/options/security, uncheck "do not allow attachments to be
saved....".

This a security feature in Outlook Express that is set to On, by default.
You can turn it off in Tools/Options/Security Tab. Remove the check mark
from the "Do not allow attachments........." option.

Make sure that you check any attachments with your anti-virus program before
they are opened, regardless of who you think may have sent them.

That is NOT what the message says.

In OE go to Tools | Options | Security and uncheck "Do not allow
attachments...".

Please read these articles:

I had the same problem. I went to Outlook Express, then
Tools, Options, Security and see if the box is checked
that pertains to attachments.

Greetings --

Outlook Express' default security settings are simply trying to
protect you. OE has no way of telling whether an attachment actually
contains a virus or not, so it temporarily blocks any of those file
types that could potentially contain a virus. In Outlook Express,
Tools > Options > Security, uncheck the "Do not allow attachments to
be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" option, assuming
you trust the source, of course. The wiser course of action, however,
would be to modify your list of unsafe files, as outlined in the KB
articles below:
