one workaround is to have mailwasher running in the system tray

this can be configured to tell you when you've recieved mail as
well as weedling out the spam rubbish ....

PS to spammers: get the message ... if people are going to such
lengths to stop your junk getting through perhaps we don't want
your products or services!
