I have clicked file - work off-line yet if I switch to another program and
back again Outlook Express has gone back to online. Why does it do this?

Telling Internet Explorer to work online will put OE online.

There is no longer the function to put IE online/offline (it used to be
under file) which is why I open OE.

That's a different problem.

You may have to change your Home page...

<title>KB257693 - "Work Offline" Command Is Missing from the File Menu</title>

Alternatively I expect you could try adding the Offline toolbar button
provided by one of the IE5 Web Accessories packages.

Good luck

That address
(http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/previous/webaccess/default.mspx)
generates:
Our Apologies...

The page you are looking for no longer exists.

I get a web page on the MSFT site. Something about, "Web Accessories for
Internet Explorer 5". Not that I need them; I don't even use MS Internet
Explorer 6 for anything beyond Windows Update and on Windows Live Mail Beta
account.
