Outlook Express features in Outlook 2002?

I'm migrating from OE 6 to Outlook 2002 and would like to utilize features I
cannot seem to find in Outlook. OE allows embedding sound through it's
Format/Background/Sound menu. I've tried to embed wav files as objects in
Outlook messages, but both times I tried, my system instantly rebooted. I
have since decided to ask if this can be done rather than continue
experimenting.

Another thing OE does is display attached jpg/gif/bmp files in the message
body. Is this possible in Outlook and if so, how do I set this feature?

For the first issue, see if the following article helps (it should work in
Outlook 2002 as well as 2000/98):

http://www.neostorm.net/outlook/bgsound.htm

For the second: Outlook can only display images "inline" if the sender used
HTML or Rich Text format for the message and embedded the image into the
body. If the image was sent as an attachment, you will always receive it as
an attachment.

Not everyone realizes this, but Outlook and Outlook Express are completely
different programs despite the unfortunately similar name, so it is to be
expected that some features in one will not be present in the other.

You can also set Word as your e-mail editor and in a new message choose
View-> Tool Bars-> Web Tools. Press the sound icon to add the backgound
sound.

Question of the month: Color Code Your E-Mail.

The method suggested on the referenced neostorm site, was cumbersome and
failed to work - probably due to my ineptness. The received message did
indicate the presence of HTML script, but with no result.

The Web Tools method is perfect for my capabilities - point and shoot. I
often fall into the ready, fire, aim group, and in this case, I could have
"experimented" for years and never found this solution.

Thank you both for the assistance.

I don't think Neo has updated his page in a while, but if he had read your
message himself he probably would have told you what Roady did :-) Glad
you found a solution that worked for you.
