Outlook Express Error after upgrade to XP

Just upgraded from 98 to XP and most things are going
well except for Outlook express email. I am able to
receive email but not reply, forward or send anything.
When I click on new message to send I get an error
message "There was an error opening this message, an
error has occured" Now I am not trying to open a
message, that works fine but rather trying to create
one. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks,
