outlook express email won't take my password

i am a total novice and followed instructions to the letter about setting up
outlook express email using yahoo account and it keeps rejecting my password
with no explanation.

Are you trying to use Outlook to access email that you can currently
access via the web?
 
There are still a few instructions that you must learn. This newsgroup
addressess issues with MS Office Outlook, Outlook Express is a different
animal. Is your Yahoo account a POP3 account? For example, paid as opposed
to free?
 
yes i am already using yahoo, but when i am tring to set up my ms office and
the email, there are instructions for the different email programs if you
don't choose default. everything took fine except the password

I don't think that either Outlook or Outlook express support Web based
E-Mail. They only support POP3/SMTP E-Mail (Outlook also supports IMAP
and Exchange E-Mail, but that's probably irrelevant to most users).

then you can't use any mail client with your free yahoo account. There are
two options - either upgrade to a paid-for account with Yahoo, or use YPOPS
which is a third-party add-in .
