Preston W.

I get an error message. 0x800cccof. I.P. tells me to go
to M.S. . M.S. tells me to go to I.P.. I have a place for
both of them!!! Weeks and weeks of this. Microsoft
thinks they fixed the problem. WRONG. Now M.S. wants to
charge me for their problem software. I didn't write it.
I paid for it once, I don't want to pay for it again.
Please help, someone fix this, PLEASE, P.W.

While your post makes almost no sense, i can tell you have a question about
Outlook Express.
This is a group to support Outlook from the Office group of programs.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and is a quite different
program, despite its similar name..

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
Outlook Express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
microsoft.public.internet.outlookexpress.mac for OE for Macintosh

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups).

A good website for information on OE is:
http://www.tomsterdam.com/

He's having a problem with OE receiving mail - his ISP told him it was MS's
problem, MS says it's the ISP's problem. The error code is 0x800cccof.

Although he mentions he's using OE, transport issues like this affect OL as
well - so answering it here might help an OL user tomorrow. :)

If he uses a web based service, like mailstart.com if his ISP doesn't have a
web interface, he can delete the problem messages and hopefully mail will
flow properly again.

Another possible cause for this error (which means "connection dropped") is
that some anti-virus/anti-spam software is wedging its way between Outlook
and the server and causing problems. Preston, if you have any anti-virus or
anti-spam software installed, try turning off the mail scanning and see if
the problem goes away. If it does, contact the software's vendor to see if
there's an update.
