Outlook Express and attachments

The security level for OE6 is set so high that virtually
every attachment I get from a completely innocent
paragraph describing a scientific method to a photograph
of my grandaughter is removed. What can be done? OE5 did
not do this, but I unfortunately downloaded OE6 and seem
to be stuck with it.
I was told that Outlook was not as annoying in this
regard, so started to get my email with that. True, the
attachments are not removed anymore, but I cannot set
Outlook to leave my mail on the server. This caused me to
lose a lot of mail that I needed.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Try going to the Outlook Express Tools/Options menu and clicking on the Security tab. Uncheck "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus". This will allow all attachments to get through so be really careful what you open

To leave email on the server with Outlook (not Outlook Express) go to Email Accounts on the tools menu, choose "view or change existing account", choose the account you are using, click change, then click more settings, then click the advanced tab, then check the box that says "leave copy of message on server".

Outlook can be configured to leave a copy of the mail on the server.
Go to the properties of the mail service you're using (Tools | E-mail accounts
probably) and on the Server tab you should find the check box for "Leave
a copy of messages on server" (or something like that).
