Hi,

I have a dsl setup in florida, and through it connect to BellSouth's
newsgroup
and mail servers.
I set up outlook 7 and the newsgroup reader in florida on the bellsouth
acct.
In NJ, where I am now, I have a comcast broadband acct.
I connect fine to the comcast acct internet wise, but,
I can't connect to bellsouth's newsgroup server through the
comcast account, and I can't send email via outlook 7 either. I
can receive email, but I can't send them via outlook 2007.
Because I"m in florida most of the time I don't want to change all of the
accounts, etc.
Is there a way to connect to Bellsouth's email and newsgroup servers
via the comcast internet wifi connection thourh outlook 2007?
Thanks in advance for any ideas on this.

mike

ps: It works fine on microsoft's newsgroup server. ??

Ok, lets seperate out the issues here.

First, newsgroups. Not an Outlook issue. OE is the newsgroup client, so
you'll want to go to the microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general newsgroup
for that. That said, Bellsouth may block you from using their newsserver if
you aren't connected to their network. You'll need to ask Bellsouth about
that.

Second, sending mail through Outlook. I'm willing to bet it is the same
issue. After all, if their smtp server was so wide open that anyone could
use it, it'd be a nice big target for sending spam. I'd try the steps in

thanks for your help.
