How do I set up my OE email to spell check
automatically? I can't even get it to spell check by
clicking on the spell check icon manually when I am ready
to send email. I have recently purchased a new computer
with loaded with XP Home Edition and OE 6.0.

Help!!!

Thank you,

Chris

In order to use Spell Check in Outlook Express, one must install either
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Works, or Microsoft Office. These software
programs are available for purchase at your favorite store that sells computer
software programs.

Do you have a spell checker installed? OE will use the spell checker from
Microsoft Word/Office and some third party spell checkers.

I have Microsoft Word on my new Dell 2400 with XP installed and the spell checker for Outlook Express 6.0 will not work. On the other hand, Outlook Express 6.0 on my old computer with Microsoft Wrod installed performed spell check just fine. What's the problem with XP?

OE 6 does not come with it's own spell check. There are downloads available.
Get a free spell check at either site below.

There has never been a spell checker in OE. It uses one from Word, Works
Suite, Excel or third party software. You must have one of these
applications installed for spell checking in OE.

There is a FREE one on the net. Unfortunately I don't have the URL anymore,
just the exe. A search should come across it quickly. There is also a FREE
one called ieSpell for the internet.

Greetings --

Outlook Express, as you've just discovered, has no spell-checking
capabilities of its own. Instead, it relies upon the presence of
certain specific other Microsoft applications, such as the Office
Suite, Word, or the Works _Suite_ (which includes Word, not the
regular Works). There are also some 3rd-party shareware/freeware
solutions available at any of the many shareware sites on the Internet

Spell Magic seems well thought-of, though I haven't tried it myself:
