I'm getting same error message here, also "out of the blue" and totally
unexpected. Office 2000, Windows 2000, Outlook installed as CW option
(using Exchange 2000 here).
This error is happening whenever I try to create a new appointment on the
calendar. I can CNTL-click and drag an existing appointment to make a copy,
and then modify it, it is fine. Except when there are invitees -- such as
for a meeting -- then even modifying a copy will cause Outlook.exe to
terminate. The error listed in Dr. Watson is "Exception number: c0000005
(access violation)" and shows the fault here:

I too have done everything listed in kb article 297010 without success. The
crash happens on a brand-new profile with no services except personal
folder, and I try to add an appt to that calendar. So it cannot be anything
with Exchange...
I've used my Office 2000 CD and done a full reinstall of all components,
that didn't work.
I've used kb article 197180, which lists the command line switches
available, and have opened Outlook with every single command line switch, to
try and clean everything up. Didn't work either.
Anyone have any ideas at all???? Unless format C: and reinstall everything
is my only option???
Thanks for any help,
