I've had a nightmare of a problem with Outlook recently.
When I launch Outlook (which I've used successfully with
the same configuration for 4+ years), the following error
(or variation of this) occurs:

"outlook.exe has generated errors and will be closed by
windows. you will need to restart the program ..."
and then outlook closes.

Things I've done:
installed/reinstalled MS Office,reformatted the hard
drive, reinstalled OS, switched OS from 2000 Pro to XP
Professional (did a clean install), used the inbox repair
tool (scanpst.exe), viewed the event log & researched
possible problems... almost everything I can think of
with no luck.

One thought is that the outlook.pst file is corrupt, but
not sure how to test that other than with scanpst --
which reports no problems. Another file
(sapphire.carolina.edu-00000000001.pst) has been created -
- and is recognizable as the mail server name. Any
guesses what's going on? Any/all replies greatly
appreciated. I haven't read my email in 1+ week -- and
I'm job hunting!! :-)

I just experienced a similar problem. It turned out that a recalled
message was causing the problem. I just had it on one mailbox. If
you have it on more than one mailbox, I recommend using ExMerge to
delete the recall from all boxes (if you're running Exchange).
