Anyone have an idea what is going on here. I have an SBS server that has
several contact lists in hte Public Folders. When a new email is started and
the 'TO:' lookup is selected, then the Global Address List to search for a
user, only domain users names show up. Any thoughts? None of the contacts in
the public folders lists are there. You have to select the specific public
folder list to select an email address. I would think that "All Contacts" or
even "Public Folders" would show all addresses in all contact lists.

You have to tell Outlook to display public folders in the Outlook Address Book. Each user needs to check the Outlook Address Book box on the folder's Proeprties dialog.

Thanks for the reply. It is checked, and the folder does show up, the problem
is that unless the user knows what folder to look in for the address, they
cannot find it. I am new to the SBS/Exchange word, and am assuming that the
GAL would show ALL contacts for ALL folders that are set to display as
contacts???

Does that confuse things?

What if you had thousands of public contacts folders, only a few of which were relevant to each user?

Keep in mind that the GAL and public folders are totally separate. The GAL displays zero and always zero public folders. The ***address book***, however, can display whatever contact folders the user wants.

If showing a particular folder in the address book is important to your organization, you can script that with the MAPIFolder.ShowAsOutlookAB property.
