I'm unable to connect an Outlook2000 client to an Exchange Server 5.5 SP4.

Error message =
"The name could not be resolved. The operation failed".

I tried KB255843
"XCLN: Unable to Log on to Exchange Server from a Windows 2000 or Windows XP
Client"
to no avail.

I verified that the name is not hidden in the address book.

I deleted the profile and created a new one.
Didn't work.

Other network connections including internet are working fine.

What should I do?

How do you connect to Exchange? Are you on the same subnet, do you use VPN
or any other relevant network configuration?

But most important; can you ping the Exchange server and resolve its name?

Exchange is integrated in SBS 4.5.

I'm connecting over the LAN.

I can perfectly access the files on the server.
I can ping the server.

Have you already tried to connect to the server with a FQDN?
(machinename.domain.com). Try putting the name and IP of the server in your
HOSTS-file.

Where does it go wrong? When you configure the account and press the "Check
names" button?
