OK, so we now know the mail account type SMTP/POP3. Does your mail account
require you to authenticate to your server?
1. Connection type is what you specified in the Connection Tab for the Mail
Account when you configured it.
2. Polling interval is what you've specified for an automatic Send/Receive
in Tools > Send/Receive

This is what I am doing at the moment to solve the
problem.
It is just so nice to click S&R get the mails and be
disconnected.
Hope somedody as an answer.
Thanks

OL is trying to check before the connection is
completely established, it
sounds like. Don't know if this will work for you, but
my preference has
always been to connect manually to the Internet and
have
Outlook work with
the existing connection - then manually disconnect
from
the Internet when I
wish.

Hi all
Keep getting a connection to server failure when
dialing
up.
If I press "send&receive" Outlook dials up and once
the
connection is established gives me an error saying
it
cannot find the pop or smtp server.
If I click S&R again without having hung up, it
works
just fine.
Any clues ?
