OS is Windows xp home edition. TCP/IP working and tried
to rebind nothing happaned. Check rpc binding order
under
hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\exchange\exchange
provider\ eerything in order. Can ping the exchange
server. Telnet to it's smtp is ok. The error comes out
during outlook configuration. When I click check name it
should pop up the username,password, and domain window
but instead the error comes out. There's no firewall
software on PC. I tried to configure same thing on
another PC, it worked. What could be the problem?

What is the error?

Without knowing the error message, the best I can do is guess that it might
be an RPC error....
Check for the presence of these keys and add them if they are missing:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Rpc\ClientProtocols]
"ncacn_np"="rpcrt4.dll"
"ncacn_ip_tcp"="rpcrt4.dll"
"ncadg_ip_udp"="rpcrt4.dll"
"ncacn_http"="rpcrt4.dll"

The error is: Outlook could not logon. Check to make sure
you are connected to network and are using the proper
server and mailbox name. Network problems are preventing
connection to microsoft exchange server computer. Contact
your system administrator if this condition persists. You
can choose file->Work offline to work locally until the
server becomes available. I have checked the rpc protocol
and they are in the registry.

I am getting the same error.. Outlook XP can connect with
no problems at all but outlook 2003 will not resolve the
domain name.. if you put the IP address in it will
resolve the CheckName, but it puts the Domain name in
where the IP was and then it will not re-check the name
and if you try to connect after the checkname it says the
error stated previously. Ive checked the RPC values and
they are there. Im on a windows XP pro system using
Outlook 2003 connecting to a Exchange 2003 Server.
Again, Outlook XP connects with no difficaulty at all but
Outlook 2003 will NOT connect.

I am experiencing the same thing with Outlook 2002 on XP
Pro factory installed (Dell) with all patches up to date.
It is really, really frustrating. I am using VPN and all
other network resources are available to me but Outlook
will not connect to the Exchange server. Arrrrghhh.
Hope someone comes to our rescue!

I had the similar error of not resolving the user name when connecting
to the Exchange server... I added the registry keys you listed and
everything resolved beautifully!!!

Thanks,
Gabe Ybarra
