I setup a co-workers Outlook account (matching my settings), and I get a
"successful" message when I hit "test account settings". However, the test
email does not come in. I closed Outlook, and opened his Outlook Express, and
all the test messages came into his Express inbox. Any idea what I'm
missing?
Mark.

It sounds like you forgot that having two email programs downloading mail from the same account means that one will make a mess. In this case, OE got it before Outlook could. Use either Outlook or Outlook Express, not both.

Did you try clicking Send/Receive in Outlook after performing the text?

Hi Sue - I know that you can't use both email clients. After I setup
Outlook, I clicked "test acct settings" and the test email would not arrive
in the Outlook Inbox, I double checked the settings several times, and then
clicked the "test". Nothing. When I closed Outlook, and opened OE, all the
test messages showed up in the Inbox.

The symptoms all suggest that the setup for the outgoing service is fine, but the settings for the incoming server aren't quite right. What happens if you use Outlook's Import and Export Wizard to import the account settings from OE?

That means, at least, that the SMTP portion of Outlook is working. Enable
diagnostic logging to see it helps figuring out why the POP portion isn't.
I'll assume you know how because you never mention your version of Outlook.

Brian, I enabled diagnostic logging, but despite the instructions I cold not
locate the file. I searched the C drive for the file extension, but it came
up with nothing.

I was able to import mail and addressbook, but i got the following when I
attempted to import the mail account settings, "unable to import internet
acct manager returned unknown error, if problem persists reinstall outlook.
Is that our next option?

Did you enable showing hidden files and folders?

Brian - FYI, I uninstalled Office, but when i reinstalled it, the the email
account settings were still there. I deleted the account and started over,
still the same results.

Your log file does show that Outlook can't connect to the SMTP server, so
you can't send messages, despite other indications. The reason your account
information remained is because account information is kept in the mail
profile in the registry. Try creating a new mail profile in the Control
Panel's Mail applet.
