Every time I close Outlook, it appears to close, but after several minutes
of using any other program, I get an error message something like, system
resources are dangerously low, you might need to close some open programs to
continue. Usually when this happens I only have the 1 program open, every
time this happens I can launch task manager and "Outlook.exe" will be
present, I end task and problem is solved until the next time I open
Outlook.

Any suggestions are appreciated,

TIA

Ray

Are you using any program that integrates with Outlook?
WinFax, Virusscanner, Synchronisation software, etc. All of these program
can cause Outlook to stay open

The only thing would be NOD32 virus scanner, but I had this problem prior to
installing it. NOD32 also integrates with Outlook Express on the same
machine with no problems, or is it unfair to compare OL to OLE?

Before deciding on NOD32, I tried many, many different virus scanners over a
period of about a year, some of which seemed to integrate deeper than
others. The ones that seemed to integrate deeper were also very hard to
uninstal. Could it be that remnants of these harder to unistall scanners I
have tried are the likely culprit?

To the best of my knowledge nothing else has integrated with Outlook...

Thanks,
Ray

Could very well be the case. Try disabling the integration and rename
extend.dat to extend.old and see if that solves anything. If so; it's the
integration.
