Hi there,

I have just imported messages from a profile where I have cretaed a new
2002 profile from a 2003 one. I imported the messages in Outlook 2002 from
this newly created profile.
Now, when I want to delete messages, I get this message:

The messaging interface has returned an unknown error: If the problem
persists, restart Outlook.

I have restarted Outlook, restarted my machine without any help. What else
can I do before formatting this thing?

Importing from a PST is a good way to damage your mail profile. Simply
reuse the PST with FIle>Open>Outlook Data File.

Start with a new mail profile now.

Brian, thank you for your reply.
Which profile should I use? The exported one or the original one?
Further on ... how can I see which profile am I using?
Sorry for all the questions, but I need to save about 3 000 e-mails.

Delete and recreate your existing profile (you may want to restart your PC
inbetween). Use the mail applet in the Control Panel.

You appear to be confusing PSTs and profiles. They're not at all the same
thing. A PST is a file containing Outlook data. A mail profile is a
structure in the Windows Registry that indicates what services are available
to Outlook.

Use the original PST in a new mail profile.

I'm suggesting you use a new mail profile exclusively and when you know
Outlook is working with it, that you delete the old profile.
