The Outlook 2002 client on my home [Windows ME] PC only
sends/receives emails for one of the three (Earthlink)
email accounts set up. The one account which successfully
sends and receives emails is the default email account.
This problem also shows up when composing a message and
you click on the "Accounts" dropdown list - the only
account which is listed is the same default account.

There is a Send/Receive Group set up for "All Accounts"
set up on my PC.

Any idea of how to diagnose and fix this problem?

try: tools > options > mail setup > send/receive in order to configure
Outlook to check all email boxesl.

Kevin,

I already tried that but when I click on the "Edit ..."
button for Group = "All Accounts" I get a "The operation
failed." message.

Could be your .srs file is corrupted. Try renaming it and see if it
gets rebuilt on the next restart of Outlook. If not, you'll have to
define a group under which you configure which accounts it will use and
enable both send and receive for them.

I renamed the "Default Outlook Profile.srs" file and
restarted Outlook. A new file by that name was created
but then when I pressed the Send/Receive button a non-
specific "The operation failed." message was displayed.

I restored the original "Default Outlook Profile.srs" and
the Send/Receive function worked again but only for the
default email account. Once again, if I try to edit
the 'All Accounts' group, I get an identical "The
operation failed." error message.

Also, if I try to create a new Send/Receive Group (via the
Tools menu) I get an identical "The operation failed."
error message.

Any other ideas on how to have all three email accounts
send/receive messages successfully ????

You delete the .srs file. You started Outlook. Did you then define any
send/receive groups (so Outlook would actually what accounts to poll)?
I'm not talking about modifying the old .srs file. Rename the old one.
Outlook creates a new one when you start it. Before you go polling for
new e-mails (manually or scheduled), first define a group and enable
what accounts you want to poll within that group. I think that's what
the KB article says to do.

I guess that I'm not explaining my situation very well.
Whenever I try to create a new send/receive group via the
Tools menu, I get a "The operation failed." message when I
press "New..." button. I get the same message if I select
the 'All Accounts' group and press the "Edit..." button.

I get the same response whether I retain the original .srs
file or reference a newly created one if I rename the
original and restart Outlook.

I'm beginning to suspect that there is something wrong
with the Outlook executable(s) but I don't want to
completely re-install Outlook as you nearly always lose
data when trying that approach.

Any other ideas?

Well, my next guess is that you don't have any e-mail accounts defined
in which they can be collected into send/receive groups. You can't
group objects you don't have. Do you still have e-mail accounts defined
in Outlook? If so, try deleting them and recreating them and see if you
can then define send/receive groups. Could be you need to delete your
old and possibly corrupted mail profile and create a new one (use the
Mail applet in Control Panel).

Thanks, but I already tried all your suggestions and keep
getting the same result. And yes, I do have three email
accounts defined and I assume they are in the 'All
Acoounts' send/receive group. But each time I try to Edit
that group I get a "The operation failed." message.

I think I'll try to call Microsoft tech help next but I
hate doing so as you typically have to hang and listen to
elevator music on forever ....
