Hi,
I am trying to create a transform file for Office 2003
that will automatically configure Outlook when a user
executes it.
Using the Custom Installation Wizard I created an MST
file with the settings for our Exchange Server and the
username: %username%. This worked perfectly for the user
that ran the MST file.
However we use roaming profiles and when another user
logs onto the same computer it just runs the normal
Outlook Profile Wizard, asking for the details.
To get round this I created a PRF file and used
the /importprf switch on Outlook.exe in a batch file,
which I made available on the network.
This method is alright however it does have the drawback
that Outlook will open up, which makes it awkward to put
in Login scripts or autostart registry keys.
I have read somewhere that you will have to email a CMW
file around, which is basically a cut down version of the
MST file but with just the custom settings in, to all
users. I was wondering if there was a way to customize
the Office installation to configure Outlook when it is
executed for the first time?
Thanks
Gary
