If you are using Outlook 2002 or later, all your data (including Contacts)
are in a file with pst extension - usually called outlook.pst....

MS helpfully puts these files in folders that are, by default, hidden. The
same applies to Outlook Express and Windows Address book files.

For Outlook, everything is in .PST files. Each mailbox or archive uses one
PST file and it includes contacts, notes, calendar, email etc. Go to File,
DataFile Management to see where they are.

For OE, the emails are in a set of .DBX files, one set for each account.
Each file represents a folder. Go to Tools, Accounts, Maintenance, Store
Folder to find the location for that account.

Windows Address book files are .WAB. Go to Help, About in the Address Book
to find where the file is.

All of these can be placed away from their default locations.
