Outlook data files and users

Due to a crash, I have a mix of user IDs and I would like to
consolidate them to one. In Outlook it appears I was able to find my
current e-mail, but the contacts and calendar information seems to be in
another identity.

I seem to have found most stuff, but I am a little confused as I have an
inbox in "Personal Folders" and another one in "Outlook Today [Personal
Folders]. They do not have the same data. I would like to consolidate them

I would also like to have a list of whatever data and configuration
files Outlook uses so I can do some additional hunting and in the future
have a more logical backup system in place to meet my needs.

Operating system and Outlook are all XP version with all primary
updates.

The file you need is the correct Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's
where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.

So as I thought (sorry I did not make myself clear) all that data is in
that one file.

Do you have any any information on the two sets of personal folders?
(clearly I got the second set by importing a second PST file. Is the
answer to my question in the references you listed below? I have not had a
chance to read them yet.

Two things it appears you need to know:
1. All Outlook data is in one file. If you have a file that does not contain
all your data, you did not transfer the correct file.
2. Importing is never the correct way to transfer Outlook data. It will
always corrupt your profile by creating a duplicate set of Personal Folders
in Outlook 2003. The Help files and the links I posted tell you the correct
way to transfer Outlook data: You simply open the correct PST file in the
Outlook profile, set it as the default, restart Outlook, then close the
original PST file so you won't have duplicate files.

Outlook doesn't use identities and it keeps all its data in the same file.
Unless you specifically separated some of your contacts and calendar data
into another Personal Folders file (PST), then your mail, tasks, notes, and
journal are also in that same file. Are you using hte Folder List view to
look at the folders?

The one marked "Outlook Today" is your delivery location, or default
folders. To consoldate, open each individual folder in "Personal Folders",
select all the entries with CTRL-A (for the calendar you'll have to switch
to a table view like Events or By Category first), then either drag the
selection to the corresponding default folder or click Edit>Copy (or Move)
to Folder, specifying the corresponding default folder as the destination.
When you're done, you can right-click the root of "Personal Folders" and
choose Close.
