I've got a Dell XPS M1210 - Outlook 2003 Pro

We have 4 of these machines - I personally have one as well. Mine
works great no problem.... however one of the others is a problem
child. I've personally re-installed the OS 4 times on this machine.

When you bring up outlook (with Exchange account) I get CPU usage
spikes (40%-60%).
Explorer.exe shows in the task manager as the culprit. Shut down
outlook and it chills down to 0%-2%.

Bring outlook back up .... it has a CPU spike heartbeat every 5
seconds or so.

I've set the email account on several other machines ... no problem..
so I know it's not the OST file.

Why is something hooking into explorer.exe? I'm ready to send this
thing back.

Oh ... FYI the machine was downgraded from the other POS (Vista) and
Office 2007.

I should be greatfull I guess .... I've been on this for 5 days ... on
and off!

are you using the dell preinstalled os or did your company install the os?
if dell installed it, are there any addins, specifically one call
outlooksetup addin (cyberlink).

What anti-virus software are you using? Do you have Windows Desktop Search
running? Any other add-ins installed in Outlook?
I have the WIN XP Pro / Office 2003 / ACRONIS Home Backup (got tired
of restoring).
I have some other Tech's looking at this ... but so far we are all
scratching our heads.

We've load a VL version - OEM and of course a DELL version. Poor
performance of 2007 started all of this ... that is why we downgraded
to 2003. It may have not been all Office 2007's fault ... I don't
know ... but 2007 just crawled ... it was terrible. It's back to it
tomorrow.
