I want to use the Group By function in Outlook 2003 so that I can group my
contacts by their department. The Group By buttonis grayed out. Ay
suggestions as to why this might be and what to do about it?

My Contacts folder view is set to Detailed Address Cards. When I try to
customize that view, all options are available (Fields, Sort, Filter, Other
Settings, Automatic Formatting). The Group By button isn't. And I want to
group my contacts by department.

Thanks in advance.

First click View>Arange By>Show in Groups. Then the Group By option will be
available.

Naturally. Address Card views cannot be grouped. Choose a list view if you
want to use the Group By option.
