Outlook contacts importer

For good reason I have decided to abandon outlook as a contact
manager (only thing I used it for..) but I would like to bring
my contacts into another program.

Does anyone know of a software that would postemously read the
contact file (what would that file be ??) I say postemously
because I no longer have outlook installed so I cannot use
export features.

Also any recomendations for a contact manager software ??
