I was wondering if it is possible to import contact files
from outlook into Access, and how you would go about doing
that? Also Mail merge what is that? I have heard it
mentioned as a MS function to pull in stuff from word,
could that be used?

Hi,

My name is Amy Vargo. Thank you for using the Microsoft Access Newsgroups.

You can import your Contacts from Outlook into Access. To do so, open your
Access database. Go to File, Get External DAta, Import or Link Tables. In
the Files of Type box, select Exchange or Outlook. This will start the
wizard. Continue through the wizard, selecting your Contacts folder to
import the data from.

A mail merge allows you to put data from your Access database into a Word
document. There is also a wizard for doing so. In Access, select your
table or query name and then go to Tools, Office Links on the menu bar.
Select the "Merge it with Microsoft Word" option to launch the wizard. If
you have an existing Word document created, select the option "Link your
data to an existing Microsoft Word document". If you need to create a new
document and link the data to it, choose the "Create a new document and
then link the data to it" option. Click OK and then continue through the
wizard.

I hope this helps! If you have additional questions on this topic, please
respond back to this posting.

i have done the link but all the field are not there especially the
categories one. can you map the field somehow?
thank you

Amy,
I am having problems linking to my Address Book or my "Personal Folders1".
The Wizard says "Personal Folders1 is currently unavailable. Wizard can't
Access it." It says the same thing when I try and link to Addrss Book but not
when I try and link to "Personal Folders" which I do not want to link to?
What could the problem be. At one time I was linked to it in another database
but now that link will not work to it as well. ?
