outlook contacts do not appear

After I add a new contact in Outlook address book under
contacts, it does not appear in the address book. When I
re-add it, the program says that it is already there!

Any ideas where it goes and how I can make it appear
along with the other contacts?
 
Right click on the contacts folder, and look around for an option to show
the contacts folder in the address book. (The location of this option varies
depending on what version of Outlook you use, so just poke around the tabs.)
