outlook contacts/address book problem

I just purchased and installed Office XP Small Business.
I transfered my Outlook Contacts from Office 2000
Professional into my new Outlook program with no
problem. However the Address Book in the new Outlook XP
program is empty. The Contacts list is not showing up in
the Address Book. How do I get all of my Contacts to
appear in my Address Book?
 
I am having a similar problem. Recently built a new PC,
went from WIN 98SE using Office 2000, to WIN XP using
Office XP. When I click on my Outlook bar my contacts are
there, but not when I view my Address Book, or open an
email message and click on the "TO" box to get a list of
names to choose from. Any ideas for me? I could not find
a heading named "Services" under "Tools".

It is not unusual for the Outlook Address Book to "lose track" of the
connection to its Contacts Folder when you move or import your PST or update
your Outlook version or OS. Use the following steps to reset the connection.
Note that in some instances you may actually have to remove the Outlook
Address Book completely from your Profile, close Outlook, and then re-add it
before you can get it to work.

Go to Tools > Services. Make sure the Outlook Address Book service is
listed. If not, add it. Next, R click on the Contact folder or folders you
want the OAB to display, choose "Properties", go to the Outlook Address Book
tab and check the "Show this folder as an E-mail address book" box. You may
also need to go to Tools > Options > Addressing Tab and choose to show your
Contacts folder.

Unfortunately, you failed to post your mail support mode. I have assumed it
is Corp/Workgroup. If instead it is Internet Mail Only, then none of this
will apply and there is no hope for your repairing the Outlook Address Book.

Nevermind, as soon as I posted this I was able to resolve
it. I removed the "Outlook Address Book" then went into
the "Contacts" properties and chose to show as address
book, all is back to normal. Hope this helps someone else!

Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book. If it is not listed, back up one step
and add it. If it is, then click on Change. to make sure the Contacts
folder(s) you want to display are listed. You may need to enable the
Contacts Folder as an e-mail address book by R clicking the Folder >
Properties and check the "Show this folder as an E-mail address book" box.
Make sure you restart Outlook after making these changes.
