Outlook contact phone number formating

When I sync my Ofc 2000 contact database with my new
Kyocera smartphone, I end up with one too many characters
for it all to come up on one line. MS outllok contact
default phone nbr is (AC)xxx-xxxx. If I could change the
default to ACx-xxx-xxxx, it would all fit. Is there a
way to change this in a defult setting somewhere to avoid
retyping each nbr to eliminate the parenthesis?
Any help would be juch appreciated. Pls email me in

I think it's here:
Open Controlpanel > Telephone and Modem settings. Edit the settings to not use an area or country code.
