Hi
I have been using Outlook 2007 with Outlook Connector for my Hot mail.
Today I received a message telling me that I must upgrade my Connector.

I followed the instruction till I came to the question of

Repair Connector

Remove Connector

I choose Repair, but after some installation, the same question came back
and my Outlook does not appear to get to Hot Mail.

What is going on and what do I have to do when I come to the choice of
Repair vs. Remove.

Thanks

Don S

Same problem, have not found a solution yet - looks like this popped up for all kinds of people today.

Use the full (new/updated) installer - it works.

Direct link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=39db2b89-af2e-
41f9-a175-f93e1377959f&displaylang=en

If unable to unwrap that line, it's linked to from this page:

Hi

I did restart it a couple of times, but after a REPAIR action.

Actually I think I have it solved -- per suggestion from Duncan McC did
work -- after some retries.

The answer is to "Remove" the Connector and then install it from the MS
site. After some confusing screens and processes, and restarting the
computer, the problem was resolved.

The BIG gripe I have is that if this came from Microsoft, it was a really
"shitty" (using professional language) set of directions -- actually no
direction or explanation at all.
For while I thought this was a virus or similar. Hard to understand why
after years of usage, this change had to be made, unless MS did a backdoor
installation of SW which was no longer compatible with "new" stuff.

Thanks

Had the same problem. Go to
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA102225181033.aspx

Download the full install manually. Install it. DO NOT UNINTSALL your
previous version as this will cause you to lose your connector accounts.

Which is no big deal because it's simple enough to add them in again.

The problem isn't the lack of instructions - it should be seamless and
automatic, with your only effect being clicking ok a time or two.
Unfortunately there is a bug in the automatic update process - its now
disabled until they figure it out.

I've never lost the accounts when I uninstall the connector - they are still
in the profile. They are only lost if you remove them from the profile.

You need to close outlook, install the connector you downloaded (uninstall
is optional) and restart outlook - the important part is closing outlook
before running the install.

Well it appears that there are multiple versions of Connector out there - Going through the MS Office downloads site takes you to what appears to be a 12.1 version (actually when you install and go to the "About Microsoft Connector" it shows a 12.0XXXX version). Installing the 12.1 version from the Office site, or doing the "automatic update" seems to result in the unsuccessful install and subsequent endless loop of needing to update Connector.

I have had success in re-enabling the Connector after installing version 14.0 from the link posted by Duncan Mc
above- 14.0 appears to be a Connector version geared more specifically for Hotmail accounts than for Office Live accounts, but it works just fine for me. Bottom line, use the 14.0, appears to resolve the issue

I, too, see that MS has a few inconsistencies in the Outlook Connector
download pages, but if you look up "Outlook Connector" at
http://support.microsoft.com/, it leads you to
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA102225181033.aspx, which is the
proper version.
