what a hassle. nothing ever works with this company. outlook is having the
same problem as others. open it, and it can't connect so it shuts itself
down. all the settings are right. thanks to brian i went into control panel
and got to the pop3 but still can't get rid of the other connection. i've
never seen a more un intuitive piece of @#@! in my life. Maybe it is time for
a MAC?
thanks

If your can't remove the Exchange Server service from the current profile,
create a new profile, add the POP service, configure it, then Delete the
problem profile.

Thanks for the info. I did create a pop3 connection and checked to be the
default but I STILL can't delete the exchange server. Why do they make this
so difficult. If you make an error you can't fix it. It keeps asking to
delete the data files but there are no date files. so then you make different
places for the data to go and it still won't delete the file. All this to get
email?
thanks again for the reply

As I said, if you cannot delete the Exchange Server service from your
existing profile, you need to create a whole new profile that only contains
the POP3/SMTP service, 'Control Panel|Mail|Show Profiles|Add'. Once you've
created this new profile, click the existing profile (which has the Exchange
Server service that you can't delete), and click the "Remove" button. This
will delete the Exchange Server service by removing the profile that
contains it.

Thank you, I will try what you suggested. I appreciate your insight and advice. I thought however I did exactly what you suggested but still couldn't remove the exchange server. However, I will read the two links you graciously took the time to post and try again. Thank you. Michael
